Google PAIR – Overview, Mechanics, Implications

Google PAIR is a data clean room protocol that allows advertisers and publishers to match 1PD for audience targeting via DV360. It’s significant not just from a use-case enablement standpoint, but because it represents an evolution in how audience targeting could work in the new privacy-by-design industry paradigm.

With the IAB Tech Lab announcing earlier this month that they’d be collaborating with Google to develop PAIR into an open industry standard, we thought it’d be a good time to share an explainer video on the protocol. Specifically, we cover the following:

  • What PAIR is why it matters
  • The mechanics of how PAIR works
  • Similarities and differences between PAIR and other non-cookie based audience targeting solutions
  • What it means for the IAB Tech Lab to develop PAIR into an open standard

Specific sections can be accessed using the chapter markings in the YouTube player.
